Vikings Sign Ex-49ers Wideout Jauan Jennings: What It Means for San Francisco’s WR Corps

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings has found a new home in the NFL. The 5-year veteran signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Adam Schefter.

Jennings was selected in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft and was a reliable pass catcher for the 49ers during his tenure. Jennings will be missed in San Francisco, where he spent all 5 years of his NFL career. He totaled 210 catches, 2,581 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns with the team.

49ers Add Key Veteran WRs in Free Agency

San Francisco will have a new wide receiver corps, which features a mix of veterans and youth. The 49ers’ most expensive offseason addition was former Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans. San Francisco and Evans agreed on a 3-year, $42.4 million deal.

The 32-year-old wide receiver has an impressive resume. He has recorded 866 receptions, 13,052 receiving yards and 108 touchdowns in his 12-year career. Evans also tallied more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 seasons.

The 49ers also signed Christian Kirk to a 1-year, $6 million contract this offseason. Kirk is an 8-year veteran who most recently played with the Houston Texans. He recorded 28 receptions for 239 receiving yards and 1 touchdown last season.

San Francisco Addresses Wide Receiver in the NFL Draft

After trading down twice, the 49ers drafted Ole Miss wideout De’Zhaun Stribling with the 33rd overall pick. The talented wide receiver tallied 55 receptions, 811 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns for the Rebels last season.

Stribling will add youth, speed, and physicality to a receiving group that was rebuilt this offseason. Stribling ran a 4.36 40-yard dash and measured at 6-foot-2-inches at the NFL Combine. He can immediately serve as a deep threat wide receiver for the 49ers. 49ers head coach also praised Stribling for his willingness to block in the run game.

The rookie wide receiver will wear No. 15 for the 49ers next season, the jersey number last worn by Jauan Jennings.

Ricky Pearsall

Who Returns for the 49ers at Wide Receiver?

The 49ers do not have a lot of returning faces in the receiver room. San Francisco is hopeful that former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall will have a breakout season heading into his third year with the team. In two seasons, Pearsall has tallied 67 receptions, 928 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. But injuries have limited him. The 25-year-old has missed 14 regular-season games in his short career.

San Francisco returns Demarcus Robinson. 2025 was Robinson’s first season with the 49ers. He caught 22 balls for 276 yards last year. The 49ers also have 2025 fourth-round pick Jordan Watkins on their squad.
