The Green Bay Packers and star franchise quarterback Jordan Love are heading into the 2026 NFL season with high expectations.
Last season, the team appeared to be a top-tier Super Bowl contender. Unfortunately, as the season went on, the team suffered multiple key injuries.
Among those injuries were superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons and star tight end Tucker Kraft. Losing those two players was brutal for the Packers’ championship chances. Plenty of other players went down as well.
With that being said, the team has the talent once again to make a run this season. However, there are still question marks that Green Bay needs to answer.
Keeping that in mind, a new prediction has been shared about the Packers. Fans aren’t going to love the prediction at all.
Packers’ New 2026 Prediction Gives Reason for Concern
FanSided’s Lou Scataglia has taken a look at early predictions for the NFC in 2026. When it comes to the Packers, he does have them making the playoffs. Where they rank is the problem.
Scataglia has Green Bay finishing seventh in the NFC playoff picture once again.
“Green Bay, yet again, is a Wild Card team,” he wrote. “Our predictions sees the Packers earning the seventh seed and again facing an uphill battle for a Super Bowl push.”
Ending up as the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoffs has become far too familiar for the Packers. Despite having the talent to win a Super Bowl, the team has been far too inconsistent. By playoff time, they are already facing an uphill battle on the road.
Should Green Bay come up short again this season, the front office could be facing some difficult decisions.
Changes Could Occur If Packers Underperform Again
As the No. 7 seed last season, the Packers went into Chicago and had a 21-3 lead at halftime. The team ended up blowing that lead and their season came to an end.
Matt LaFleur faced a lot of criticism heading into the offseason. Many fans were calling for Green Bay to make a coaching change.
Despite the frustration within the fan base, the Packers have decided to run it back with their leadership team. Both LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst were given new contract extensions by Ed Policy. However, the leash is not infinitely long.
Should Green Bay struggle in 2026, Policy may be faced with some tough decisions. The Packers are far too talent to keep being the last team in the NFC playoff picture and being eliminated in the Wild Card or Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Hopefully, this prediction is proven inaccurate by Green Bay.
