The Indianapolis Colts looked the part of a potential Super Bowl contender throughout the first half of last season. Unfortunately, the second half of the year went about as wrong as it could have gone.
Heading into the 2026 season, there is a new sense of urgency surrounding the Colts. With training camp underway, excitement is beginning to build.
On Friday, August 7, Indianapolis received some bad news about one of its defensive backs.
According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the NFL has handed down a one-game suspension to Colts’ defensive back Cam Taylor-Britt.
“Colts CB Cam Taylor-Britt was suspended one game for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy,” Schefter reported on X.
Cam Taylor-Britt Was a Sleeper Signing for the Colts
Back on March 17, 2026, Indianapolis made the move to sign Taylor-Britt. He wasn’t one of the most heralded free agents on the market, but it was a sleeper move for the Colts.
Last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, Taylor-Britt was only able to play in eight games. He recorded 21 tackles.
While those numbers don’t look great, the 2024 season was much better. He played with the Bengals in that season as well, racking up 77 tackles, three interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 16 defended passes in 17 games.
Taylor-Britt is heading into his fifth NFL season. His first four all came with Cincinnati. In Indianapolis, he has reunited with former Bengals’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who holds the same position with the Colts.
A one-game suspension isn’t the end of the world. Taylor-Britt will still have a chance to both make the team and carve out a consistent role for himself.
Indianapolis Has an Extremely Talented Secondary
On paper, the Indianapolis secondary should be one of the best in the NFL.
Sauce Gardner, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets last year, has had a full offseason to get acclimated to his new team. When healthy and playing to his full potential, he is one of the best cornerbacks in the game.
Across from Gardner, the Colts will have Charvarius Ward. Despite considering retirement, he’s back and is a top-tier cornerback as well.
Having a third cornerback like Taylor-Britt is excellent depth. He should play an important role throughout the season.
It will be interesting to see what the 2026 season has in store for the Colts. Taylor-Britt will miss the first game of the season, but will still be integral to the team’s success when he returns to the field in Week 2.
