New York Yankees Announce New Roster Move After Angels Loss

On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees played the Los Angeles Angels (at home) in the Bronx for the second game of their series.

After winning the first game (on Monday), the Yankees lost by a score of 7-1.

They have now lost six out of their last seven games.

After the game, the Yankees announced that they had made a roster move.

The Yankees wrote (via X): “Following tonight’s game, the Yankees optioned RHP Yerry de los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.”

de los Santos pitched two innings on Tuesday night.

He let up three hits, one earned run and two walks (with one strikeout).

Gary Phillips of NY Daily News Sports wrote: “Yerry De los Santos has been optioned. Once again, the #Yankees’ 40-man roster pen options include Kervin Castro and Angel Chivilli. However, they have 2 open spots, so there’s also someone like Yovanny Cruz. Chivilli, who has a 0.00 ERA over 8.1 IP, last pitched 4/12. Cruz was 4/11. Castro pitched tonight.”

de los Santos is in his third MLB season (and first with the Yankees).

He spent the first two years of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The 28-year-old came into the night with a 1-5 record (and 3.78 ERA) in 73 career games.

@NewsBronx wrote: “NEWS: The #Yankees have optioned Yerry De Los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after he threw 44 pitches over two innings tonight. He had been called up earlier in the day to replace Jake Bird on the roster. A corresponding move will be made before tomorrow’s game.”

Yankees After Latest Loss

The Yankees dropped to 9-8 in 17 games, which has them tied with the Baltimore Orioles for second-place in the American League East.

They are 4-4 in the eight games they have hosted at home in the Bronx.

Following two more games against the Angels, the Yankees will remain at home to host the Kansas City Royals (on Friday).

Following their home stand, the Yankees will head to Boston for a series with the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
