NBA World Reacts to DeMar DeRozan ‘Disturbing’ Row

Veteran Sacramento Kings guard DeMar DeRozan did not take kindly to an NBA content creator’s remark on X on Thursday night.

DeRozan, who ranks No. 16 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 26,711 points, was reminded by Carson Breber that he was on pace to surpass Shaquille O’Neal, who ranks No. 10, within the next year or so. Breber called that a “disturbing” reality.

“DeMar DeRozan only needs to average 18 PPG for another 105 games to surpass Shaq in career points and enter the all-time Top 10.

“I find this deeply disturbing,” Breber wrote on X.

DeRozan took serious exception to Breber’s comment.

“Disturbing!? F**k that mean?” the Toronto Raptors legend fumed.

“Who the hell is you to have an opinion on somebody career. Clown!”

DeMar DeRozan Controversy

Breber doubled down on his comment, highlighting that DeRozan had been an analytically net-negative player for most of his career.

“I think it’s weird that your teams have been better with you off the court for your entire career and you are probably going to end up with more career points than Shaq

“That’s what it means,” added the co-host of the “Nerd Sesh” podcast.

DeRozan fired back.

“And it’s weird you live behind a computer, dweeb!”

Breber later admitted that he did not intend to use the word “disturbing” while making his point.

“I was pretty obviously joking – it’s not actually “disturbing” at all, it’s just super weird because he has never been a very impactful player but he’s gonna go down as a Top 10 career scorer ever.

“Believe it or not, my goal was not to hurt DeMar’s feelings when I tweeted that.”

NBA World Reacts

Former Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas was among the many in the NBA community to defend DeRozan’s scoring accomplishments.

“Disturbing? Real life hater smh,” Thomas wrote on X.

Former NBA All-Star Michael Redd also came to DeRozan’s defense.

“Think about where he started. Think about where he’s gone.

“@DeMar_DeRozan is an incredible success story and there’s no arguing that.”

Pounding the Rock’s Devon Birdsong praised DeRozan for being a great pro during his years with the San Antonio Spurs.

“DeRozan was a consummate pro during his tenure in San Antonio, in spite of it not being his choice, so I’d love to see this,” he wrote.

“That being said, this is yet another argument for the NBA counting/adding ABA stats. “There’s no world in which we should be able to say DeRozan scored more points than Dr. J.”

One fan felt DeRozan had earned his spot with his consistent longevity.

“I’m shocked how viral this DeMar DeRozan scoring list thing has gone. Main reason being I don’t understand what the debate is. This is what consistent longevity looks like. You slowly but surely work your way up. And we’re smart enough to know he’s not better than Shaq. So what are we doing?”
