Clay Holmes got the start, going 5.1 innings with three strikeouts and one earned run.

However, he left with an injury.

The New York Mets wrote: “Clay Holmes was removed from today’s game with left hamstring tightness.”

The two-time MLB All-Star had gotten off to an incredible start to the season.

He came into play with a 2-0 record and 1.42 ERA in his first two starts.

Holmes’ MLB Career

Holmes was picked in the ninth round of the 2011 MLB Draft.

The 33-year-old has also spent time playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees over nine MLB seasons.

He has gone 38-30 with a 3.60 ERA in 346 games (37 starts).

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported an update after the game.

He wrote: “The good news for the Mets: doesn’t sound like Clay Holmes’ hamstring injury is too serious. There’s at least some hope he can make his next start.

The Mets will wait and see what the coming days bring.”
