Maxx Crosby Sparks Backlash From Lions Fans After Viral Online Comment

Over the last several months, the Detroit Lions have been connected to Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby, a Michigan native who attended college locally at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, and has gone on to become one of the top players at his position in all of football since he was selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

However, it appears as though he’s going to stay with the Raiders for now. There was even a trade of Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in March that was nixed thanks to Baltimore’s concerns over Crosby’s knee health.

In the meantime, a recent comment from Crosby on social media has Motor City sports fans buzzing.

Detroit Lions Target Maxx Crosby Reveals Detroit Sports Loyalty

The Detroit Pistons are locked in a heated battle in the Eastern Conference Semifinal of the NBA Playoffs, and unfortunately for Detroit, they now trail three games to two after Cleveland’s 117-113 overtime victory on Wednesday night in Detroit.

And on social media, Crosby appeared to be supporting both James Harden and the Cavaliers in their fight against Detroit.

Crosby wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter:

“FINISH!!! 1 AT A TIME. @JHarden13LFG🔥🔥🔥🔥”

This caused a stir among fans on social media, many of whom are questioning why he’d not be rooting against his hometown team.

“How are you rooting for Cleveland and James Harden as a Michigander?” wondered one fan.

Former Lions offensive lineman, who also played at Eastern Michigan University as Crosby did, asked, “You rooting against Detroit?”

Keeping it more casual, this fan asked, “may i ask your connection to harden or are you just a huge fan? im good either way just curious.”

This fan referred to Crosby as a sellout, saying, “What a sellout. Harden and his stupid ass beard does nothing but flop and get every bulls*** call literally every gale(sic). The NBA is a joke.”

Finally, this fan exclaimed, “You’re actually lame as hell born and raised here and you support a dude who flops lmfao.”

Will Maxx Crosby Still Be Traded From The Raiders?

While the trade that would have sent Crosby to the Ravens was nixed, NFL Insider Albert Breer believes that there is still a pathway for him to be moved at some point.

“Is there a possibility that Crosby could be traded in November? Yeah, it’s not impossible,” Breer wrote. “Here’s the hypothetical scenario: Nine games in, Crosby’s crushing it, looking healthy, and the Raiders, while showing promise, are 1–8. At that point, the Raiders wouldn’t have to shop him; the calls would come in. And as strong as the 2027 draft promises to be, maybe someone would give them something to think about.”

Meanwhile, Crosby once linked himself to the Lions, noting that he was jealous of the success Detroit enjoyed in their 15-2 campaign of 2024.

“It kind of bothers me because I had to wait my whole childhood for them to be good. And now that I’m in the league, they’re Super Bowl contenders,” Crosby said during a taping of Good Morning Football. “Selfishly, I’m kind of mad at them.”
