Matt LaFleur Shares Good News on Tucker Kraft

The Green Bay Packers are currently trying to navigate a rare off-the-field in which running back Josh Jacobs was arrested and subsequently released from Brown County Jail after being initially charged with three counts of domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation and intimidation of a victim.

It was thought that may have been the impetus for the team cancelling player availability on Wednesday May 27; the second day of OTAs.

Despite Jacobs’ legal issues potentially putting his participation status in training camp and even the regular season into at least a small amount of doubt, there is some good news for the team.

Head coach Matt LaFleur, in a uncommon un-broadcast media availability, revealed that there is a good chance tight end Tucker Kraft will be present at training camp as he continues to recover from injury.

“Tuck looks great right now. You want him out there. He looks so good, you’d want to put him out there, but certainly we’re still early in that process. Hopefully he’ll be ready to go either by training camp or early in training camp.” LaFleur said on Wednesday.

Kraft is currently recovering from an ACL tear suffered in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers on November 2, 2025 – a little over a month prior to All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons suffering the same fate against the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

Tucker Kraft Looking to Revive Momentum in 2026

Before the injury cut out the second half of the season for the former third round pick, Kraft was having a career year. The South Dakota State alum produced 469 receiving yards in his first eight games, making him Green Bay’s leading receiver at the half-way point of the season.

If he had finished the season at the rate he started at, Kraft would have ended up with almost 1,000 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, which would have ranked him second in the league in yards (behind All-Pro Trey McBride) and first in TDs.

Alas, that was unfortunately not able to play out. However in 2026 the 25-year old has an opportunity to once again show the league what he is capable of and continue to produce as quarterback Jordan Love’s seemingly favorite target.

Kraft Could See More Targets in 2026 After Receiver Exodus

The Packers have also appeared to pivot strategy when it comes to the receiver room. Out are the days of 5-7 receivers sharing snaps and rotating in and out of the lineup.

With the departures of Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs this offseason, Green Bay has a clear starting trio at the position: Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed, with 2025 third round pick Savion Williams as the primary backup.

Now with fewer mouths to feed, Kraft and the other receivers could see themselves all get a greater share of targets and catches.

But, first things first; Kraft will be focused on ensuring he is ready to go by the start of training camp in mid-late July.
