The Los Angeles Lakers made a historic trade at last year’s deadline. As many know, they moved Anthony Davis and Max Christie to the Mavericks to acquire a top five player in the league, a move normally reserved for video games.
Luka Doncic arrived in LA and immediately gave the fans a glimpse into a future much brighter than the one that was just a few years ahead of them.
With his latest performance, Doncic surpassed Jerry West (RIP) for the most games of 35+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 10+ assists in a single-season in franchise history.
It has come as zero surprise to see him maintaining his extremely high level of play in his second year in Hollywood. This is a player who is absolutely built for big moments.
After this performance, Doncic went home, and turned on… Disney Channel?
Luka Doncic a Big Fan of High School Musical?
One may ask why an article about Luka Doncic watching High School Musical will exist. The answer would be that it would make him very relatable. A true enjoyer of ball, and the musical and basketball stylings of one Troy Bolton.
In a conversation published back in November, he stated he’s actually watched the movie 10-15 times. A film that released back in 2006, it has continued to maintain popularity and appeal all over the place.

Luka may have also just been paying tribute. The film’s 20-year anniversary just passed, and so he wanted to make sure people knew that he knew it was such a momentous day.
Of course, this is one of many things that makes the star guard interesting. He is also a big fan of chess, something he’s been playing for a long time. He’s all about x’s and o’s and strategy, and so that really doesn’t come as too big of a surprise.
When talking about Doncic, the term superstar is always going to be floated around. It has been true from the time he started playing pro ball as a young teenager. He was only 16 when he first played against NBA competition, now in his eighth season in the association, he’s still cooking.
Fans of High School Musical and the Lakers know what they have in their guard of the future.
Luka Doncic Looks to Maintain High Level of Play
The Lakers latest victory helped them to maintain the #5 spot in the Western Conference. In a year where the competition has been incredibly fierce, this team has been just good enough to keep their place inside of guaranteed playoff position.
There is little margin for error at this stage of the year, with so many squads being so clustered with one another. A healthy Luka Doncic is somebody that you want on your side to help win as many games as possible.
He’s been averaging 34-8-9 per game this year, raising his game to another level while Austin Reaves has been recovering from his injuries. When the two play together, this is one hard team to outscore. The duo is posting 60+ a night, and then you add in the continued play of LeBron James and you’ve got a squad.
Doncic is doing all he can this season, and it’s not going unnoticed. He’ll be starting another All-Star Game, and perhaps something else later in the year if LA can finish putting their roster together.
