The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are once again searching for a new offensive coordinator.
The Bucs fired Josh Grizzard after just one season, continuing a frustrating cycle of turnover on the offensive side of the ball.Â
It marks the fifth offensive coordinator change in five years for Tampa Bay.Â
With Baker Mayfield coming off a noticeable regression and the offense finishing near the bottom of the league in efficiency, the Bucs now face a pivotal hire.Â
League sources and coaching circles have already begun circulating a short list of names who could make sense in Tampa Bay.Â
Josh Crysler from The Pewter Plank gave his four top targets:Â
Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase and former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel are at the top of his list.
Crysler also brings up Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski as potential good fits.
4 Offensive Coordinator Candidates Bucs Should Target
1. Nate Scheelhaase (Rams Passing Game Coordinator)
Scheelhaase has been on Tampa Bayâs radar before.
He interviewed for the job last offseason before the team ultimately chose Grizzard.Â
At just 35, heâs viewed as one of the brightest young minds from the Sean McVay coaching tree as the Rams finished with the NFLâs top-ranked passing offense this season.Â
Tampa Bay has seen success betting on the McVay tree in the past, and Scheelhaase offers both upside to where the league is headed offensively.Â
2. Mike McDaniel (Former Dolphins Head Coach)Â
McDanielâs availability would instantly reshape Tampa Bayâs search. Â
Widely regarded as one of the NFLâs most creative offensive minds, McDanielâs scheme is rooted in the Kyle Shanahan system.Â
The Buccaneersâ rushing attack plummeted in 2025, and McDanielâs ability to design explosive ground games could be massive.Â
He would be a great match especially with the Bucs offensive weapons at his disposal.Â
3. Todd Monken (Ravens Offensive Coordinator)Â
Monken checks multiple boxes for Tampa Bay.Â
He previously served as the Buccaneersâ offensive coordinator and coached Baker Mayfield during his rookie season in Cleveland.Â
Monken brings experience and proven stability as Baltimore ranked near the top of the league in points per game during his tenure.
He is the safest option.Â
4. Grant Udinski (Jaguars Offensive Coordinator)
Udinski has worked under Kevin OâConnell and Liam Coen and is viewed as a rising offensive coach at only 30 years old.Â
The chance to run his own offense and reconnect with concepts that worked in Tampa Bay previously could make him a sneaky candidate.Â
Buccaneers Casting a Big OC Search
The Buccaneers have already begun interviewing a wide range of candidates.Â
Tampa Bay has interviewed with former Titans head coach Brian Callahan and Lions passing game coordinator David Shaw.
They’ve also interviewed Cardinals quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork, and Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson so far.Â
Additional names such as Todd Monken and Nate Scheelhaase are also believed to be under consideration as the search continues.Â
With Baker Mayfieldâs future and the franchiseâs offensive direction hanging in the balance, this hire could change the direction of the franchise.
