Three people were in custody after exchanging gunfire with Chicago police officers early Saturday in Brighton Park.
Officers tried to pull over a vehicle with two men and a woman just after 1 a.m. in the 4400 block of South Mozart Avenue, but the vehicle drove off and someone fired shots at the squad car, Chicago police said.
Officers followed the vehicle to where it crashed in the 2900 block of West 47th Street, police said. The suspects attempted to flee on foot and fired at the officers. One officer returned fire.
No one was injured.
Officers placed all three suspects in custody and two guns were recovered, police said. The suspects were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries from the crash.
Police said one officer was also taken to a hospital for observation.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability was investigating the shooting.
