Former Lions OC Ben Johnson Reportedly Angers Multiple NFL Figures

The Chicago Bears, led by former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, enjoyed a historic comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers at Solder Field in the NFL Wild Card postseason round, setting up a Divisional Round matchup against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.

However, the actions of Johnson in the immediate aftermath of the victory reportedly has rubbed several NFL coaches the wrong way, including his upcoming opponent, Rams coach Sean McVay.

During the postgame celebration in the Bears locker room, an exuberant Johnson let out an expletive-filled battle cry.

“F— the Packers,” Johnson yelled in the video. “F— them! F—ing hate those guys!”

This has reportedly upset several figures around the NFL, including McVay, according to an inside scoop from ESPN NFL Insider Peter Schrager, who noted that McVay is close with Packers coach Matt LaFleur

“The utter disrespect and the brazen locker room video where you’re saying ‘F the Packers. F that coaching staff’, and the social media team clicks go. Send it. Put it out into the world,” Schrager told The Ringer on Friday. “And the next day with 24 hours to really think about it, to say, ‘No, I’m fine with what I said and my owners got my back on that too.’ This is the WWE part of this where there’s actual personalities involved.

“I think McVay wants to kick the snot out of Ben Johnson and I think Ben Johnson, who has beaten McVay the last two times when Detroit played the Rams, has no problem with that. I’ll beat the snot out of you. I love these two guys. Two alpha offensive minds going at it in this game. I can’t wait.”

Not only is McVay close with Matt LaFleur, but his offensive coordinator with the Rams is none other than Matt’s brother, Mike LaFleur.

Former Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson Makes No Apologies For What He Said

However, if anyone is expecting an apology from Johnson, they’re going to keep waiting.

Johnson said that he will not apologize for what he said after the stunning victory over the Packers and stands by it.

“There’s a rivalry that exists between these two teams, something that I fully recognize and I’m a part of,” Johnson said. “And, yeah, I just, I don’t like that team.

“It’s a big game: first playoff game at home in a while,” Johnson continued. “And we hadn’t won a playoff game in 15 years or so. But certainly, the opponent, in of itself, it means a lot to the city, this organization, and that’s something that we certainly play into a little bit as coaches and players is we know how big it is when Chicago plays Green Bay.”
