Dolphins Sign ‘Big, Fast and Talented’ Wide Receiver Amid Tyreek Hill Uncertainty

The Miami Dolphins are in need of talent to boost their roster. After four years of possessing one of the top receiving duos in the NFL with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the time has come for Miami to replace Tyreek Hill. With a $51 million cap hit in 2026 and Hill coming off a dislocated knee, the team is expected to release the All-Pro wide receiver. However, the team will need to replace his production, something they failed to do in the 2025 season.

Once Hill went down in Week 4 of the 2025 season, the Dolphins’ passing offense sputtered. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed his primary receiver and struggled all year, which resulted in him getting benched for poor performance. Whoever Miami’s quarterback is in 2026 will need more help out of their playmakers in order to have success. The team will look at all possible avenues, and they have begun making moves, as they have now announced the signing of a former top draft pick.

Miami Dolphins Sign Former Second Round Wide Receiver

On Feb. 2, the Miami Dolphins announced they had signed wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. Marshall was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. As a draft prospect, NFL writer Lance Zierlein labeled him a “big, fast and talented,” receiver with “the ingredients to become a solid starter in the league but has some questions to answer.”

Ultimately, Marshall did not live up to his draft status with the Panthers as he had only one receiving touchdown in three seasons in Carolina. His best season came in 2022, when he totaled 490 receiving yards on an impressive 17.5 yards per reception. After three seasons with the Panthers, Marshall has since signed with the 49ers, Raiders and Eagles. He failed to make the final roster for all three teams, and did not see regular season action as a member of the Eagles in 2025, but was a member of their practice squad.

He is by no means a lock to make the Dolphins’ final roster for the 2026 season, but he does provide the wide receiver room with something they currently lack. Sports Illustrated’s Alain Poupart detailed what he might add to the Dolphins as he wrote, “He’s 6-2, 200 pounds, making him a big-bodied outside receiver who can win some contested catches above the rim. That’s something the Dolphins need in 2026. They have bigger receivers like Theo Wease Jr. and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, but neither of those players did enough to lock down this role.”

Miami Dolphins Playmakers

As mentioned previously, the Dolphins are in need of playmakers. With Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane, they have two of the most explosive players in the NFL, but they lack depth and consistency behind them. The previously mentioned Nick Westbrook-Ikhine failed to make much of an impact in the first year of his two-year deal, and with a $3.1 million cap hit and no guaranteed money remaining, he may be a potential cut candidate.

Additionally, the team has a need at tight end. Their two primary tight ends in the 2025 season were Greg Dulcich and Darren Waller, both of whom are set to be free agents and Waller is considering retirement. As a result, Bleacher Report projected the Dolphins as a potential landing spot for All-Pro tight end Kyle Pitts, as he would give Miami a much-needed playmaker.
