The Los Angeles Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts are looking to do something that no MLB team has done since 2000.
With another World Series win, the Dodgers will have won three straight. That hasn’t been done since the New York Yankees did it back in 1998, 1999, and 2000.
On paper, Los Angeles looks to have a great chance of accomplishing that feat. Following the offseason blockbuster signing of superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker, the Dodgers have the best roster on paper in baseball.
A lot of the team’s hopes of winning a third straight championship will hinge on some luck. Los Angeles needs to stay healthy in order to win it all once again. However, the Dodgers will also need some players to step up, including relief pitcher Tanner Scott.
Tanner Scott Is the Dodgers’ Clear Secret Weapon This Season
Last offseason, Scott signed with Los Angeles on a lucrative four-year, $72 million deal. He was expected to be a key piece of the bullpen.
In his first season with the Dodgers, Scott was a disappointment.
Throughout the course of the 2025 campaign, Scott appeared in 61 games as a reliever. He compiled a 1-4 record, a 4.74 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, a 3.3 K/BB ratio, 57 innings pitched, 23 saves, eight holds, and 10 blown saves.
Just one year previously with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres, Scott was one of the best closers and relievers in baseball. He pitched in 72 games and went 9-6 with a 1.75 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, a 2.3 K/BB ratio, 22 saves, 11 holds, and just two blown saves.
Heading into the upcoming 2026 MLB season, Scott is focused on flipping the script and being dominant for Los Angeles once again.
Dodgers Fans Will Love What Tanner Scott Had to Say
With spring training now underway, Scott spoke out about last season and his goals heading into this year.
“A lot of things were not going right for me last year,” Scott said. “So yeah, it was tough. But it’s a new year. … Wash it, flush it like a toilet, and just let it be. It is what it is. Wasn’t that great last year. But new year.”
Roberts also spoke out about his star relief pitcher. He offered some blunt honesty about Scott’s 2025 struggles.
“I just don’t think he was really throwing the baseball well last year,” Roberts said. “It seemed like everything had a magnet to the center of the plate.”
Hopefully, Scott is able to get back on track in 2026. Should he be able to do so, the Dodgers will be in a great situation. Assuming they stay healthy, a third straight World Series win could very well be in the cards for them.
