On Friday, the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants will open up a series at Oracle Park in California.
The Tigers are coming off a strong showing against the Mariners (in Seattle) where they won two out of three games.
Most recently, they won by a score of 11-0 on Thursday.

Ahead of their series with the Giants, the Tigers announced an update on Jack Flaherty.
He has been out since July 20 with an injury.
MLB.com wrote (on August 6): “Played catch on Aug. 5.”
According to the site, Flaherty could still return before the end of the month.
Before getting hurt, he had gone 3-8 with a 4.59 ERA in 19 starts.

Flaherty was picked in the 1st round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
He had spent the first 6.5 seasons of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals.
After his tenure with St. Louis, Flaherty had stints with the Orioles, Tigers and Dodgers.

After spending part of the 2024 season in Detroit, Flaherty returned to the Tigers in 2025 (following his run with the Dodgers).
He helped the Dodgers win the 2024 World Series title.
Over 10 seasons (and 209 games), the 30-year-old has gone 66-64 with a 3.86 ERA.
