Before Monday’s game, the Cubs announced that they had made a roster move by calling up Javier Assad from Triple-A.

Marquee Sports Network wrote: “Javier Assad will be recalled from Triple-A Iowa and is expected to start in Tuesday’s game.”

Assad’s Background

Assad is coming off a season where he went 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA in eight games.

The 28-year-old has spent all four seasons of his MLB career playing for Chicago.

104.3 The Score wrote: “Javier Assad will soon be a key figure to help the Cubs get through a tough stretch without Cade Horton, who suffered a right forearm strain.”

Assad has gone 18-12 with a 3.43 ERA in 78 career games.

He has shown promise to be a reliable pitcher.

Cubs Ahead Of Tuesday’s Game
