For the Cleveland Browns, the 2025 wide receiver room was among the worst in the NFL, as the team not only failed to find significant improvement among its handful of young players, but also saw former third-round pick Cedric Tillman fail to take a step forward in his critical third season and, probably most confounding of all, saw 2024 Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy fall apart with a slew of dropped passes, a difficulty keeping focus and a lack of leadership.
The Browns have since remade their receiver room around a pair of rookies, first-round pick KC Concepcion and second-round pick Denzel Boston, two players who have been among the best in training camp this month.
Their rise has also fueled questions about Jeudy, who has struggled with dropped passes again this summer in camp, and whose name has been floated on the NFL trade rumor mill. Ideally, Jeudy would return to form as the team’s No. 1 target, with Concepcion and Boston filling roles around him. But that’s not happened.
Jerry Jeudy ‘Wants to Be Great’
Still, Browns receivers coach Christian Jones met with the media on Saturday and was asked about Jeudy, who saw his production go from 90 catches and 1,229 yards in 2024 to 50 catches and 602 yards in 2025.
Jones remains a believer in Jeudy’s ability.
“He just wants to be great,” Jones told Browns reporters. “He shows up every day, knows what to do, knows what questions to ask, and he goes out there and plays hard every play. That’s the best thing he can do for himself, and it is my job to help him get there, or help him spot things and help him work on those. So, he’s got the mindset, it’s all about going out there and doing it. He is doing a good job so far.”
Browns WR Room Might Suddenly Be Crowded
Jeudy’s status in Cleveland still appears to be solid, for now at least. But the better the Browns rookies play, the more feasible a Jeudy trade looks, especially if second-year man Isaiah Bond also continues to improve.
As the USA Today site, Browns Wire noted, “With plenty of new faces beginning to stand out, it’s clear that Cleveland is leaving their old ways behind and looking towards the future. This could lead to yet another trade by the front office, with veteran wide receiver Jerry Jeudy being the primary target for the Browns to move on from before the regular season.”
Browns Could Make a Jerry Jeudy Move at the Trade Deadline
Even if a trade doesn’t go down this summer, it’s a possibility for the November trade deadline, if the Browns don’t see themselves as needing Jeudy anymore.
And also this week, Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland added, “I’m a fan of Jerry Jeudy. Despite some bad optics last season, I think he’s an elite route-runner, an above-average pass catcher and a good teammate. His drops need to be reduced, of course. Now, from what I’ve seen of Boston and Concepcion, Jeudy could be a real trade chip played by GM Andrew Berry at the November 10 deadline, if not earlier.”
