Following Tuesday’s game, Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic reported the news that the Dodgers are making a trade with the Washington Nationals.
Nusbaum wrote: “The Nationals are sending pitcher Jake Eder — who was just designated for assignment— to the Los Angeles Dodgers, sources tell @Ken_Rosenthal and me.”
Eder is coming off a season where he appeared in eight games for the Los Angeles Angels.
He went 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA.

Eder’s Background

Eder was picked by the Miami Marlins in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt.
He made his MLB debut with the Chicago White Sox during the 2024 season.
Nusbaum wrote (on March 28): “The Nationals have acquired utility player Curtis Mead from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for catching prospect Boston Smith.
To make room on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Jake Eder was designated for assignment.”

In 2022, Eder went 3-5 with a 1.77 ERA (in 15 Double-A games).
At 27, he is still an intriguing pitcher for the Dodgers to add to their organization.
Adrian Medina of Roundtable Sports wrote: “Southpaw pitcher Jack Eder, who was DFA’d by the Washington Nationals on March 28, has been picked up by the #Dodgers.
He’s pitched for the Angels and White Sox in 24/25 and has posted a career 4.87 ERA in 20 1/3 innings pitched.”

The Dodgers are coming off a season where they won their second straight World Series Championship.
