The Buffalo Bills will have a new look on the sideline in the 2026 season after long-time head coach Sean McDermott was fired after nine seasons with the team. It will be former offensive coordinator Joe Brady taking over as HC, and he’ll be looking to rejuvenate the Bills offense after some of their shortcomings in 2025.
Buffalo’s weakest position group on offense this past season was its wide receiver room, which had plenty of turmoil and turnover.
Because of this, wide receiver has become a point of emphasis for the Bills this offseason, both on the free agent market and in the NFL Draft.
Mike Renner of CBS Sports released his first post-Super Bowl mock draft, one that has Buffalo selecting one of the most explosive receivers in his class.
Bills Predicted to Select Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion
Renner is predicting that the Bills will select Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion with their first round draft pick, which comes at the No. 26 slot. Concepcion played three seasons of college football; two with NC State and his final with the Aggies, where he was an All-American.
Here’s what Renner wrote about Concepcion:
“Concepcion is the separator Buffalo lacks,” Renner wrote. “We saw how much an older Brandin Cooks opened up the offense in his limited stint, and Concepcion would bring even more juice. You may have to live with some drops, though, after he posted a drop rate north of 10% last year.”
Across the board, reports on Concepcion are pretty consistent: he is an explosive playmaker with outstanding YAC ability, but his biggest fault are his hands, posting plenty of drops.
As far as talent goes, Concepcion has all of the natural athletic ability in the world. You’d much rather select a guy with the high-end potential he has as a route runner and explosive up-field ability than someone who lacks there but doesn’t drop the ball as much. Drops are easily correctable, where as the athletic talent doesn’t just fall out of a tree.
Concepcion’s Spectacular Season With Aggies
Texas A&M was one of the best teams in college football right up until the end of the season. The Aggies started 11-0, before losing their final regular season game to the Texas Longhorns, and eventually getting ousted in the first round of the CFP to the National Championship runners-up Miami.
Concepcion was a huge part of A&M’s success this season. He led the team in receptions with 61, receiving yards with 919, and touchdowns with nine. He also played with a quarterback in Marcel Reed who excels with his legs (he had over 1,000 rushing yards in two seasons), making him very experienced in the type of football Buffalo plays with Josh Allen.
As the No. 4 receiver in this years’ draft class, here’s what Bleacher Report wrote about his strengths in their scouting report:
“Concepcion is an explosive playmaker in space. Once he secures the football, he places defenders in conflict. He excels in creating plays after the catch with his toughness, elusiveness and explosiveness. His versatility opens up the playbook, because he’s also dangerous on bubble screens, pre-snap motion, jet sweeps and handoffs.”
He is projected as a year one starter, and hopefully, it’ll be with the Buffalo Bills.
