Bills Could Make One Last Impact Move in Free Agency

The Buffalo Bills have been aggressive during NFL free agency thus far. Brandon Beane and the front office have made a few big-time additions that will help push the team towards making a Super Bowl run in 2026.

At the beginning of the offseason, the Bills pulled off a major trade with the Chicago Bears. They acquired wide receiver DJ Moore to give Josh Allen a legitimate top-tier target. After that, they focused heavily on the defensive side of the football.

Bradly Chubb and C.J. Gardner-Johnson were both signed in free agency. Both veteran defenders will help take the unit up a notch next season.

Buffalo has also signed cornerback Dee Alford and safety Geno Stone.

With that being said, there is one perfect defensive move the Bills should target to cap off a great free agency period.

Buffalo Bills Should Consider One Final Free Agency Addition

Adding more talent at the cornerback position should be a priority for Buffalo. Beane could choose to do that in the 2026 NFL Draft, but there is a familiar face who should be considered.

Rasul Douglas remains a free agent. He had some solid success with the Bills previously and would be excellent depth.

Ralph Ventre of On SI briefly suggested Douglas a potential option for Buffalo.

Last season with the Miami Dolphins, Douglas played in 15 games. He recorded 62 total tackles to go along with a sack, a forced fumble, two interceptions, and 13 defended passes. Those numbers show a player capable of starting or being an elite role player.

During his first time around with the Bills, Douglas played well. In his one and half seasons with the team, he recorded four interceptions and 19 defended passes, along with a defensive touchdown.

Adding a Free Agent Cornerback Would Be Wise

Heading into the draft with a cornerback room they’re comfortable with would be ideal. That would enable Buffalo to make moves to draft the best talent possible.

No team wants to head into the NFL Draft bringing in players based on need. Douglas would help cross one potential issue off for the Bills.

Spotrac has suggested a one-year, $4 million contract for Douglas. That might be a bit too expensive for Buffalo, but he likely could be had for less. He played last season on a one-year, $1,572,500 deal with the Dolphins.

Only time will tell if Buffalo has any interest in Douglas. However, it’s a move that would make sense and would also add a proven player capable of starting if called upon.
