Bengals Star Recruits Giants’ Dexter Lawrence After Trade Request

The New York Giants are entering a new era for the storied franchise, with Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh leading the way and determined to turn this team around sooner rather than later.

However, the Giants do have one dilemma to deal with to get the Harbaugh era underway, with star nose tackle Dexter Lawrence recently requesting to be traded ahead of the 2026 NFL season, which is an unfortunate development for New York.

As of right now, it remains uncertain how the situation in New York will play out, as it is not beyond the realm of possibility that he remains with the Giants.

However, it appears Lawrence has no shortage of interest in his services, with Cincinnati Bengals star left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. recently making his recruiting pitch on Up & Adams.

Kay Adams asked Brown if he’d like to recruit Lawrence, and he didn’t hesitate to let it be known that the two-time All-Pro would be a great fit for the Bengals.

“Dexter Lawrence is a baller, and I mean, I think he’d be even more of a baller in orange and black,” Brown said of the Giants star. “So I think we, I don’t know how that kind of stuff goes necessarily. I don’t have all the answers.”

Adams went on to ask why it is an intriguing idea to have Lawrence in Cincinnati.

“I think it’d be great. He definitely will make our football team better,” Brown said of Lawrence. “And to be honest, it’s not a lot of teams he wouldn’t make better, man. He’s a special talent. I mean, and I mean, you see him right here doing on some of these highlights. He’s a baller, man. And I got a ton of respect for him and his game.”

With the Bengals needing some help on defense, Lawrence fits the bill, but it remains to be seen whether Cincinnati is a potential destination for the 28-year-old.

With Lawrence’s trade request being a hot topic of discussion right now, Giants general manager Joe Schoen recently addressed the situation, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

“Right now, productive conversations, and we’ll see where it goes,” Schoen said. “I’m always gonna pick up the phone if a team calls … That’s my job, to take into consideration what the compensation looks like, who the player is, how that affects the roster, and then try to make the best decision off of that.”

It really looks like this situation could easily go either way, whether the Giants ultimately trade Lawrence or work things out before the 2026 campaign gets underway.
