76ers Release Official Joel Embiid Injury Report Status for Game 4 vs Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for their Game 4 battle against the Boston Celtics at home, which is set to take place on Sunday, April 26.

Lately, there have been major signs of progress from Joel Embiid, who is out after getting an appendectomy a little over two weeks ago. For the first time in weeks, the Sixers upgraded Joel Embiid on the injury report, listing him as doubtful before Game 3.

As expected, Embiid was still ruled out for the first home game of the playoffs. Before the action, Nick Nurse addressed the status of Embiid.

“Just not ready, right?” Nurse said. “I mean, he’s lifted some, he’s got on court a bit, but we’re still two weeks a day, I think. So, we’re just not ready yet. “He’s getting some playing in and pretty intense playing. Mostly workouts and stuff. Individual stuff, but he has gotten out there and played against competition since getting there.”

When the Sixers submitted their initial injury report for Game 4 on Saturday night, the team listed Embiid as doubtful once again. The star center has a slim chance of playing.

Hours before releasing the initial injury report, Nick Nurse addressed Embiid once again.

As Embiid still works on getting back to a comfortable level, he doesn’t seem to be ready to push through and play just yet. The 76ers are going to keep the door open for a potential playoff debut against the Celtics on Sunday, but it seems he has a slim shot at suiting up.

Following a 108-100 loss at home, the 76ers will enter the April 26 game trailing 2-1. The Sixers and the Celtics will tip off at 7 PM ET. If Embiid doesn’t get the nod to play, his next opportunity will come during Game 5 on Tuesday, April 28, when the Sixers return to Boston.
