This ‘NCIS’ Spinoff Was Just Abruptly Canceled; Stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo React

“This just made my year!!!” NCIS: Origins star Austin Stowell commented on an <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DT0vboQEj7q/?img_index=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram post announcing the news.

“hell yeah, let’s gooo,” replied Olivia Swann, who stars in NCIS: Sydney.

The trio of renewals are good news for fans of the NCISverse, who were recently stung by Paramount+’s decision to cancel another NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, after just one season. Fans have launched a campaign, including buying a billboard in Times Square, to get the show uncanceled. But so far, efforts to save the series, which stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, have not been successful.

“No shade to these shows, but no Tony and Ziva renewal given the critical response and engagement metrics is ABSURD,” one disappointed fan commented. “They helped build the platform these three shows stand on.”

CBS also renews ‘Matlock,’ ‘Fire Country,’ and ‘Tracker’

The NCIS renewals were part of a slew of pickups that CBS confirmed on January 22. The network has also ordered Tracker Season 4, Matlock Season 3, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 3, Elsbeth Season 4, Fire Country Season 5, Survivor Season 51, and The Amazing Race Season 39.

Several CBS shows had already received renewals, including new dramas Boston Blue and Sheriff Country. FBI will be back for season 9, and Ghosts returns for season 6.

Also on the horizon for the 2026-27 broadcast season are two new show, Einstein, which stars Criminal Minds alum Matthew Gray Gubler, and Cupertino, a legal drama from the creators of The Good Wife.

Will CBS cancel ‘Watson’?

The fate of a handful of CBS shows is still up in the air. Freshman comedy DMV has not yet been renewed. Nor has the Sherlock Holmes-inspired drama Watson, which is currently in its second season. With numerous other renewals and several shows yet to debut, the CBS schedule might be too crowded for the medical mystery series.

Viewers will also have to wait and see what happens with two CBS dramas set to premiere in the coming weeks, FBI offshoot CIA, which debuts February 23, and Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, which begins airing March 1.

Meanwhile, The Neighborhood will wrap up its run this spring after eight seasons on the air.
