Kate Hudson wore a Grecian Valentino to the SAG/Actor Awards

I was surprised to hear that Kate Hudson was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Song Sung Blue, but then I saw it and understood. There’s something so likeable about Kate and she really turned in a strong performance. It’s not a Best Actress level role, but I get why she was nominated. You believe that she’s a down on her luck lounge singer in Wisconsin in the 1990s. My only complaint about that film is that they muddled the technology and setting and didn’t really seem to care about those details. Kate was also nominated last night at the Actor Awards (nee SAG Awards) and her category went to Jessie Buckley. Jessie is a shoe-in for the Oscar.

Kate wore a lovely cutout Valentino that would have been better in a bolder color. I dislike the bandeau top and the cutout underneath, but again she’s so sunny and likeable that I can’t nitpick too much. Check out how this billows behind her! Kate was there with her podcast cohost, her brother Oliver Hudson.

Presenter Allison Janney was in a cream Raisa Vanessa column gown with circular embellishments and a bold wrap-like neckline. I loved this gown on camera and found it so striking. I’m including a bonus pic of her posing with Sarah Paulson.

Sarah Paulson was in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent from 1979. I saw on her stylist’s Instagram stories that this has pockets which were added just for her. When I first saw this gown on the carpet it looked comical to me, but during the ceremony I noticed the fact that the sequins kind of drip over it. It’s amazing. Look at her fawning over Connor Storrie! I love it.

The Studio’s Chase Sui Wonders slayed in a strapless Miss Sohee gown with leaf-like sequins. I learned during Seth Rogen’s acceptance speech that they do this show in single takes?! I hope he was just talking about their episode about that, The Oner, which may be the case. That episode was so stressful. I like this show but I find it hard to take.

Kathryn Hahn was in Viktor & Ralph. The older I get the more I appreciate these big structural gowns.

Here’s the Studio’s acceptance speech!
