Her visible intoxication led to charges of DUI and DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, and recklessly driving a vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for the safety of persons and property.</p>

<p id=”par-3_34″>Huger entered a recovery program, but she opted to take the case to trial. In 2025, she received a sentence of two years in prison. <p id=”par-5_43″>“Bravo stood by me when I went through a lot,” Huger told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.eonline.com/news/1434807/karen-huger-details-bond-with-andy-cohen-while-in-prison” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>E! News</a>. “And I often credit the courage that I had from the training I had as a Housewife to make it through and to get sober and to be clean.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_11″>Cohen remained in contact with her while she was behind bars.</p>
<p id=”par-7_28″>“Andy was one of the few people that I allowed to talk to me inside while I was paying my dues,” she said. “Which I needed to do.” </p>
<p id=”par-8_10″>Huger said that his support meant the world to her.</p>
<p id=”par-9_30″>“He was so lovely and so supportive,” Huger said, adding, “I adore him. I love him. I am so happy to be a part of his team and his family.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_44″>Huger said that she rejected advice from her lawyers to take a plea deal because she was in denial and still under the influence of “prescription drugs and alcohol.” Shortly after her arrest, she denied having a problem with alcohol. She is now sober.</p>
<p id=”par-11_51″>“I think you talking about the denial you were in is perhaps the biggest revelation that I’m feeling from you,” Cohen said, per <a href=”https://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/andy-cohen-shares-biggest-karen-huger-interview-revelation” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Bravo</a>. “I think that that’s a very big deal that you say you were in denial. Because you seemed like you were in denial, with all due respect.”</p>

<p id=”par-14_33″>A number of Housewives’ struggles with drugs and alcohol haved played out on their shows. Huger doesn’t blame <em>RHOP </em>for her arrest. Instead, she told Cohen that she thinks the show helped her.</p>
<p id=”par-15_74″>“The show actually saved me,” she said. “It occupied me. I think I would have spiraled quicker without it. It gave me discipline. I had a routine. So, I can’t hate it. I don’t hate it. And I don’t need to blame it either. No, I was responsible for me. I was sick. I have the disease of alcoholism. I have the disease of, you know, taking prescription medicine and abusing it. That’s me.”</p>
