JD Vance Criticized for Fat-Shaming Veteran Conservative After Burrito Joke

Right-wing political commentator Matt Walsh criticized the Trump administration’s priorities on Wednesday, writing on social media: “Grocery prices are insane. They’re still rising. Addressing this problem should be the number one priority of every elected leader. End the stupid foreign wars and focus on this issue. It’s one of the main reasons socialists are gaining power.”

Andrew Kolvet, spokesman for Turning Point USA, replied to Walsh: “One of our TPUSA college students gave me his take on affordability: ‘A burrito shouldn’t cost $20.’ Yeah, a lot of this is a hangover from Covid and Biden-era inflation, but the lived experience is the same: It just feels like basic things cost too much.”

Veteran conservative Marc Thiessen, former White House director of speechwriting during the George W. Bush administration, replied: “Cry me a river. The burritos in the college cafeteria are included in your meal plan.”

Vice President JD Vance jumped into the conversation and wrote: “I’m surprised to hear Mark say this. If you’ve ever met him in person, it’s quite obvious the man has never missed a burrito.”

The Vice President is being criticized for his purportedly “fat-shaming” remark by commentators, including former Republican and social media influencer Aaron Parnas, who replied: “JD Vance saw Trump supporters struggling with grocery prices and said, ‘Have we tried calling them fat?’”

Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau also replied to Vance: “Welcome back to [expletive] posting, sir! Don’t listen to Susie Wiles – keep Twitter on your phone!”
