Nuggets Announce Critical Aaron Gordon Injury Update After Game 4

Both sides of the Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves series have injury concerns. For Denver, the two names with a spotlight on them in that sense are Peyton Watson and Aaron Gordon.

The former player has yet to make his playoff debut. Watson is battling a hamstring strain, and doesn’t have a clear timeline for his return in place.

As for Aaron Gordon, he’s been battling a calf injury. Heading into Game 3 earlier this week, Gordon was ruled out after initially having a good shot at playing. Ahead of Game 4, Gordon was viewed as questionable. Ultimately, he was cleared for action.

With six minutes left to go in the third quarter of the Game 4 matchup, Gordon left for the locker room. Although he had to get checked out, Gordon returned to the game shortly after.

Following the game, Nuggets head coach David Adelman revealed an important update on Gordon’s status.

“There was no minute restriction, but I think everybody saw that Aaron was laboring,” Adelman told reporters.

“He gave us what he could give us. I thought he did a good job on Randle in the first half, taking away the post-ups. He always does with the physicality. I thought it was unfair of me to keep him out there. To be honest, I felt like he was really laboring in the second half, as opposed to the first half. It wasn’t great, but his movement was OK.”

Gordon finished Saturday’s Game 4 action with just 23 minutes played. He wrapped up the game with nine points, one rebound, and one block.

The Timberwolves put the Nuggets away with a 112-96 win. Now, the Nuggets are trailing 1-3 in the first-round series. Heading into a crucial Game 5, Gordon’s status comes into question once again.

“We’re just going to have to decide what we’re going to do for Game 5,” Adelman finished. “Have that conversation tomorrow—not just with the team docs—but with Aaron himself. What did he feel throughout the game? Have an honest assessment about how he can help us in Game 5.”
