Vikings Met With 2,000 Yard RB Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft: Report

he Minnesota Vikings are reportedly doing their homework on another 2026 NFL Draft prospect out of the backfield.

Aaron Jones is aging, and is likely going into his final year as a Viking in 2026. Jordan Mason will be featured heavily, although his contract expires after the 2026 season. Minnesota could be looking to future-proof the running back position.

They have already been said to have met with RBs Emmett Johnson, Jonah Coleman, and Demond Claiborne. Now, it has been confirmed that another prospect at the position met with them last week.

The visit was reported by KSTP’s Darren Wolfson via tweet.

Add Kentucky RB Seth McGowan to the list of #Vikings draft visitors last week. The Vikings had at least three RBs visit: McGowan, Coleman (Washington), and Johnson (Nebraska).”

Dustin Baker of Vikings Territory covered some insight into McGowan’s 2025 season with the Kentucky Wildcats, and his style of play.

McGowan is 6’0″ and 225 pounds, so he has plenty of size. He’s known for his patience and power. Weakness? Very little explosion and ball security woes. The Wildcat compiled 725 rushing yards on 165 carries last year with 12 touchdowns.”

And to get to know him a little better, consider what Dane Brugler had to say.

McGowan is a good-sized, coordinated athlete with adequate vision and run strength, although his lack of explosive traits and inconsistent third-down value will make it an uphill climb to prove his worth on an NFL roster.”

Seth McGowan totaled 1,918 rushing yards, 604 receiving yards, and 18 rushing touchdowns in his college career.

Minnesota Could Take Look at Former Cowboys All-Pro CB Trevon Diggs

While there is no actual reporting nor steam on Diggs to Minnesota, it could be worth a look for the Vikings. Diggs hasn’t been the same CB in a couple seasons, but there could still be some juice there.

Lior Lampert of The Landry Hat shared some insight into Trevon Diggs and his very inactive market.

The once-elite ball hawk became more of a liability than a playmaker, so Dallas took necessary action and released him in December.

The market ostensibly agrees, considering another squad isn’t taking a flier on Diggs. He landed a second chance with the Green Bay Packers, largely because of his connection to ex-Cowboys star Micah Parsons. Alas, that opportunity was incredibly short-lived, further proving Dallas right.”

The chances are low that Diggs returns to the play of his glory days, but it would still be an interesting story to watch unfold.
