Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from March 18-23.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Noah Hanohano, Newark Memorial baseball: The junior pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and doubled and drove in two to lead Newark Memorial to an 11-0 rout of Mission San Jose in a Mission Valley Athletic League game. Also had two doubles and three RBIs in a 9-3 win over MSJ earlier in the week.
Luka Knezevic, Branham baseball: The sophomore struck out eight while scattering nine hits in a complete-game effort, leading the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over Live Oak to complete a two-game series sweep in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division play. Branham improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Ben Ledwith, Live Oak golf and lacrosse: The scholar athlete (4.7 GPA) helped Live Oak’s golf team to two victories over Leigh and scored five goals and had three assists in an 18-3 lacrosse win over Leland. He also had three assists in a 15-2 lacrosse victory over Pioneer.
Grant Morgenfeld, Palo Alto track and field: The senior ran a Central Coast Section-leading time of 8:50.95 to finish first at the Azusa Meet of Champions on Saturday.
Tony Pucci, Northgate lacrosse: In victories over Amador Valley 8-3 and Petaluma 15-2, he won 27 of 33 faceoffs, scored twice and had a team-best 16 groundballs. Northgate improved to 8-1 on the season.

Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Averi Peters, Gilroy
Cameron Sears, Aragon volleyball: In a 3-2 victory over James Logan, the senior led the Dons with 31 kills. He followed that up with 23 kills in a 3-2 victory over Burlingame and 25 kills in a 3-2 win over Menlo-Atherton. The marathon wins improved Aragon’s record to 15-1 on the season.
Tanner Tarpley, Foothill baseball: The junior homered, drove in two runs and scored four runs to help the Falcons roll past Dougherty Valley 20-4 in an East Bay Athletic League game. Also had a hit an an RBI in a 2-0 nonleague win over Freedom.
Keith Truong, Silver Creek baseball: In his team’s 4-3 victory over Del Mar, the senior went 2 for 3 with a double and scored two runs. Also had three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored twice in a 14-1 rout of Yerba Buena. Finished the week with seven hits in 10 at-bats.
Kenneth Tucker, Bellarmine track and field: The senior finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 2 inches at the Lynbrook Invitational. The mark set a personal record for Tucker and is the CCS’s top jump of the season.
Parker Warner, Granada baseball: The Stanford commit pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead undefeated Granada to a 2-0 victory over California in EBAL play. The senior began this week with a 1.68 ERA over 25 innings.
