SAN JOSE — The Sharks on Wednesday placed defenseman Ty Emberson on injured reserve and recalled forward Thomas Bordeleau from the Barracuda.
Emberson, 23, has missed the Sharks’ last three games after he suffered a laceration in the first period of a Feb. 29 game against the Anaheim Ducks. It’s unclear when he might be able to return.
Claimed off waivers from the New York Rangers in September, Emberson, between injuries and scratches, has played in just 30 of the Sharks’ 61 games so far.
Bordeleau, 22, began the season with the Sharks and had two points in six games before he was reassigned to the Barracuda on Oct. 29. With the Sharks’ AHL affiliate this season, Bordeleau, a second-round draft pick by the team in 2020, had 25 points in 35 games.
Bordeleau was drafted as a center but has mostly been playing the wing for the Barracuda this season. Since returning from an injury in late January, Bordeleau has three goals and seven assists in 13 games.
The Sharks’ next game is Thursday at home against the New York Islanders.
DUCLAIR REPORT: Sharks winger Anthony Duclair has hired a new agent and there have been some contract talks between his camp and the team, according to a Tuesday report.
Duclair, who had been representing himself, has hired Paul Theofanous as his agent, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period. Theofanous could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Sharks are still weighing trading Duclair, a pending unrestricted free agent.
Duclair said throughout this season that he was keeping his options open as far as where he wanted to play next season. He would also prefer to sign a contract with some term to lay down roots after playing for seven teams, including the Sharks, in the first 10 years of his NHL career.
Duclair has been red-hot since the Sharks returned from their bye week in mid-February, as he had seven goals and 10 points in his last eight games. He had two goals and two assists Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough as the Sharks blew a three-goal third-period lead in what became a 7-6 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars.
“I don’t even know where to start,” Duclair said. “Just lack of focus mentally. Going into the third 6-3, you just have to win that game. That’s just unacceptable. We just found a way to lose that game tonight.”

Duclair now has 16 goals and 11 assists in 56 games this season. Two years ago with the Florida Panthers, Duclair set career highs with 31 goals and 27 assists in 74 games.
Duclair is in the final season of a three-year, $9 million contract. He is one of a handful of Sharks players who could be on the move before the NHL trade deadline on Friday at noon (PST).
Others include Kahkonen, forwards Matt Hoffman, Alexander Barabanov, and Kevin Labanc, and perhaps even center Mikael Granlund and defenseman Jan Rutta.
“We don’t know what’s going to happen. Obviously, there’s a lot of speculation,” Sharks coach David Quinn said of Duclair’s status. “I certainly don’t want to see (Duclair) go but I understand the circumstances and so does he.”
