Second suspect arrested in deadly West San Jose lounge shooting

SAN JOSE — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting late last month that killed a Saratoga man in front of a West San Jose lounge, authorities said Tuesday.

Jerald Williams Jr., 26, of San Jose, was arrested Friday in connection with the Feb. 29 death of 34-year-old Jose Luis Rodriguez outside the Park Lane Lounge on Moorpark Avenue near Lawrence Expressway, according to San Jose police.

Williams is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of murder. The man police have identified as the shooter, 30-year-old San Jose resident Dynzel Brown, was arrested the day of the shooting and has since been criminally charged, court records show.

Police officers were called at 1:18 a.m. the morning of the shooting to Park Lane Plaza for a report of a gunshot. There, they found Rodriguez mortally wounded inside a vehicle parked outside the Park Lane Lounge.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatal shooting marked the ninth homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police.
