A man recently died partially due to injuries suffered in a car accident nearly two months ago, according to a Monday press release from San Jose police.
Around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, the man was driving northbound on Saratoga Avenue in a 2008 gray Infiniti sedan when he rear-ended a 2003 gold Lexus SUV that was stopped at the intersection with Moorpark Avenue, authorities said. The two women in the Lexus stayed at the scene and were uninjured in the collision.
Authorities said that the male driver was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was initially stabilized.

However, on April 22, police were informed that the driver had been pronounced dead. They said in the news release that they had also been informed that the man had become paralyzed, but it was not clear when that had happened.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office found several days later that the injuries sustained by the driver in the crash contributed to his death. Authorities did not release his identity Monday morning.
This crash marked the 14th fatal collision and 14th traffic death of the year in San Jose.
