The wound was not believed to be life-threatening. The agency said the hospital contacted them about 8:40 p.m.

According to CHP Officer Andrew Barclay, the person who was shot claimed the gunfire came from somewhere on Interstate 80.

The CHP shut down the westbound lanes of the freeway at McBryde Avenue to investigate the scene for about an hour, Barclay said. They did not have a description of a suspect or the vehicle that may have been involved.
