Police arrest man with ‘large kitchen knife’ at San Mateo High

SAN MATEO – Authorities on Wednesday morning arrested a 29-year-old San Mateo man on suspicion of bringing a “large kitchen knife” to San Mateo High School.

East Palo Alto: Police seeking public’s help to solve fatal stabbing

Just before 10 a.m., campus security confronted the man and asked him to leave the school, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Police said the man then got into a fight with security.

Officers arrived at the school and tried to detain the man after he ignored their commands. The man resisted but he was eventually placed in handcuffs, according to police.

Police said a large kitchen knife was found in the man’s backpack.

The man “remained aggressive and combative” throughout the incident, according to police.

The man was arrested and booked into San Mateo County jail on multiple charges including trespassing, possession of a weapon on school grounds and resisting arrest.
