OAKLAND — A 23-year-old man was shot in East Oakland early Sunday after he got into a confrontation with some other men, authorities said.
The man was in stable condition at a hospital where he is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
The shooting happened about 12:24 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue, a mainly residential area.
Police said the man, an Oakland resident, was walking outside when he was confronted by two other men, one of whom shot him.
The wounded man was able to make it to a nearby residence where police and paramedics were called.
The suspects fled in a vehicle before police could respond.
A motive for the shooting has not been released. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information was released.
