Man arrested on suspicion of firing gun at Menlo Park home

MENLO PARK – An 18-year-old East Palo Alto man was arrested on suspicion of firing a gun at a Menlo Park home early Wednesday morning, according to police.

The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. in the Belle Haven neighborhood on the 200 block of Terminal Avenue, authorities said. Two callers reported seeing a person in the area at the time of the shooting, the Menlo Park Police Department said in a news release.

Police arrived to find a man who matched the description provided by the callers, according to police. He was arrested following a brief struggle with officers.

The man had two firearms on him, police said, adding that one of them was loaded.

Several rounds of spent ammunition were also recovered near the victim’s residence, which was occupied at the time of the shooting, according to police. No injuries were reported.

The man was booked into San Mateo County jail on multiple charges including shooting into an inhabited dwelling, willful discharge of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.
