ASHLAND — In an effort to identify the suspect, Alameda County sheriff’s investigators have released video images of a man wanted in a Feb. 9 shooting that left a 40-year-old woman dead and a man wounded.
The name of the woman killed has not been released. Investigators said she had “mobility impairments” but did not elaborate on what they were.
Video of the suspect was obtained from a business in the area of the shooting, which happened about 9:47 p.m. Feb. 9 on East 14th Street near 151st Avenue in the unincorporated area of Ashland.
The suspect is described by authorities as Black, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 11 inches tall, with an average build and a mustache. He was wearing a black knit cap, a ring on his right ring finger and a lanyard around his neck, which appeared to hold a cell phone, keys and possibly an ID badge. He also had a grey and black backpack with orange straps and a black wallet marked with a white or gray crest or sticker in the center.
The sheriff’s office believes he may have ties to the San Leandro area.
The shooting left the 40-year-old woman dead and a 47-year-old man wounded. Investigators have not yet said what their relationship was or if either of them knew the suspect.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred during a verbal dispute between the suspect and the victims.
