High winds with gusts up to 60 mph were taking down trees and power lines Sunday morning on the Monterey Peninsula, leaving thousands without power.
The storm was forecast to continue raging through much of the day. Sunday’s fourth and final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was delayed and rescheduled for Monday. Fans are asked to stay out of Del Monte Forest.
The County of Monterey’s emergency staff, including the sheriff, is urging people to stay away from the ocean Sunday.

The storm is making conditions very dangerous according to the National Weather Service. People are urged to stay away from beaches, ocean trails and ocean rocks because of strong waves that could sweep them away.
An evacuation warning remains in effect for Bolsa Knolls, but it has been upgraded to an evacuation order for low-lying areas near the Carmel River.
The county reports that for flood prone areas, sand stockpiles are being refreshed for residents to make sandbags. Sand locations are at Garland Park for Carmel Valley residents and Ferrasci Park for Bolsa Knolls. County Public Works is also building a sandbag flood wall along the Carmel River at Dampierre Park in Carmel Valley with the help of other organizations.
All county day-use parks, including Toro, Jacks Peak, Manzanita, Royal Oaks, and San Lorenzo are closed.
