Four-alarm fire burns lumber yard in Oakland

OAKLAND — A massive fire was burning Sunday evening at a lumber yard in East Oakland, fire officials said.

Over 75 firefighters responded to the blaze at Economy Lumber, located at 750 High Street, and it quickly grew to a four-alarm fire by about 8:30 p.m.

Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt said no injuries have been reported. The blaze appears contained to the lumber yard and a structure there, he said.

OFD is advising people in the area to stay inside and close doors and windows to prevent smoke exposure.
