The man was taken into custody at a home in Danville, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.

In addition to arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, the man was arrested on suspicion of contacting a minor to commit a felony, attempted lewd acts on a child, trying to send harmful material to seduce a minor and resisting arrest, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office said the man attempted to harm himself while he was being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. He received medical aid and was taken to a hospital. An investigation is underway into the incident, according to authorities.
