El Sobrante man killed in Fremont freeway crash is identified

FREMONT — A man who died in a traffic collision Saturday night on Interstate 880 was identified by the coroner’s office Wednesday as Daniel Uriah Thrower, 27, of El Sobrante.

The California Highway Patrol said Thrower was driving a white Ford Taurus south on I-880, just north of the Decoto Road west on-ramp, when at about 8:40 p.m. he collided with a blue Toyota Prius before striking an embankment. Additional details about the collision were not immediately available.

Thrower was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was uninjured. There were no passengers in either vehicle, the CHP said.

The fatal collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information may call the Hayward CHP office at 510-489-1500.
