East Oakland shooting leaves one dead

OAKLAND — A person was killed in a shooting Wednesday night in East Oakland, police said.

The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. in the 9800 block of International Boulevard, near 98th Avenue, the Oakland Police Department said in a news release. Officers arrived to find one victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim died at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding the homicide are under investigation, according to police.
