Crews respond to wildfire in East San Jose foothills

Crews are responding to a grass fire burning in the East San Jose foothills near San Felipe and Las Animas Roads.

Earlier this week, the National Weather Service warned that dry, gusty winds over the weekend could boost fire danger concerns across the Bay Area over the weekend.

Two wet winters in a row helped grasses grow lush and tall — but those same tall grasses are now drying into tinder under the summer heat, becoming a concern for firefighters around the area.
