Classic rock titan brings greatest hits tour to the Bay Area

John Mellencamp is heading our way.

The classic rock star is set to bring his Dancing Words Tour — The Greatest Hits to 19 U.S. cities.

And, thankfully for Mellencamp fans, one of those cities happens to be in the Bay Area.

Mellencamp performs Aug. 12 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Jan. 23, mellencamp.com.

There is also a Citi cardmember presale that runs 10 a.m. Jan. 20 to 10 p.m. Jan. 22,  citientertainment.com.

“The tour, produced by Live Nation, marks the first time Mellencamp will be performing all his most beloved songs in a single night, some of which haven’t been played live in many years,” according to a news release.

And, of course, Mellencamp has no shortage of hits to fill a set list.

“Poised to be one of the most anticipated tours of the summer, fans can expect to hear Mellencamp’s best known songs including ‘Pink Houses,’ ‘Jack and Diane,’ ‘Small Town,’ ‘ Hurts So Good,’ ‘Authority Song,’ ‘Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First),’ as well as beloved tracks that he hasn’t performed live in ten plus years, including ‘R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.,’ ‘I Need a Lover,’ ‘Wild Nights,’ ‘Ain’t Even Done With the Night’ among other long un-played gems,” the news release continues.
