Police said the man was parked when an SUV pulled alongside him and two men with guns got out. The armed men attempted to pull the 66-year-old man out of his car and when he apparently resisted one of them shot him at least twice, police said.

The suspects then fled in the SUV driven by a third suspect north on Third Avenue and were gone when police arrived. The wounded man was able to drive himself to a hospital.

Police are trying to determine why he was in Oakland. Detailed descriptions of the three suspects were not released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information can contact police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
