Westchester man died from heat stress, autopsy finds

A suburban Westchester man is the latest person whose death has been attributed to heat-related causes this month, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.


Robert Feldon, 77, died of heat stress along with complications of a fall, an autopsy determined. He died July 10 at MacNeal Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.

At least nine people in Cook County have died from heat-related causes in July, the highest number of deaths in a single year and month in more than a decade, according to a WBEZ and Sun-Times analysis of data from the medical examiner’s office.


The others whose deaths in July have been attributed to the heat are Stephanie Rodriguez, 45; David Gonzalez, 44; Barbara Whigham, 71; Mike Rodriguez, 57; Daniel Machnikowski, 69; Victor Ferguson, 48; David P. Sopys, 46; and Joseph W. Huff, 65.
