West Indies defeated Italy by 165/6 to 123, a 42-run margin. The West Indies captain also hit four 6s and six 4s. No other hitter from either team scored more than 26 runs or two 6s. Because of his effort, Hope was named the Player of the Match.

Shai Hope on West Indies Victory
Following the victory, Hope summed up the group match results as “in good shape” heading into the next portion of the tournament.
“We’re 4 in 4, gotta keep momentum going all the way through,” Hope said via ESPNcricinfo. “Fine margin, we have batting depth, but we need to be smart. Need to be clinical with strokeplay. Need to capitalise on deliveries. In good shape going into the Super Eight.”
“It’s a matter of doing it over and over. Gotta bring your A game in tournament.”
Hope then went on to praise his team, including the performance of two standout bowlers, Shamar Joseph and Matthew Forde.
“Pitch was decent, we should’ve got a bit more. Different when you have unfamiliar bowlers. We could’ve put more impetus in the middle overs,” Hope said. “Will have to find ways to be more forceful when crunch times come. Proud of Forde, Shamar, they’ve executed well. The confidence and clarity in bowlers gives us clear execution.”
Forde finished the match with three wickets and only surrendered 19 runs in his four overs. Additionally, Joseph hit an impressive four wickets in his four overs while giving up 30 runs.
