Sabres On A Warpath

The Buffalo Sabres continue to remain as the hottest team in the NHL. Last night, the Sabres shut out the Vegas Golden Knights in a 2-0 victory, earning their 42nd win of the season.

This game was really a defensive slugfest for the most part, only seeing limited scoring from Buffalo. Josh Doan would net his 22nd goal of the year in the first period, giving Buffalo the lead early in the contest.

The second period was very dry in scoring, with both Vegas and Buffalo unable to tally a point. Defenders for both squads kept themselves busy in hopes of not allowing scoring- which they were able to do in the second period.

Buffalo would go on to hold the Golden Knights off, and score an empty net goal late in the third period to seal the deal in this late night meeting. Josh Norris scored the empty-netter, earning his 10th goal of the season, and helping his Sabres team earn another win in the process.

Luukkonen Went Lights Out

While the Sabres earned their 2-0 victory over the Golden Knights, goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was the key contributor for the Sabres in this game. Luukkonen tallied 28 saves for Buffalo, and collected his first shutout of the season. He now has 8 career shutouts after his dominant performance against Las Vegas.

Additionally, the Sabres have also set a new franchise record with an 11-game point streak on the road. This accomplishment adds to the magical season the Buffalo Sabres have had.

The red-hot Sabres are now 10-1-0 since returning from the Olympic break on February 25th.

What’s Next For Buffalo?

Following their 2-0 win in the Sin City Tuesday night, the Sabres look to tally more wins to their scoreboard. Buffalo will travel to San Jose to face the Sharks tomorrow night (3/19). This will be their second and final meeting this season, with the Sabres winning 6-3 in their previous meeting last week.

The Sabres will also go up against the Los Angeles Kings (3/21) and the Anaheim Ducks (3/22) before closing out their West Coast road trip.
