New York Yankees Announce Anthony Volpe News Before Red Sox Game

On Thursday night, the New York Yankees will look to sweep the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

They have won each of the first two games by a combined seven runs.

Anthony Volpe has yet to appear in a game during the 2026 season, as he is currently recovering from injury.

Before Thursday’s game, manager Aaron Boone announced the latest on Volpe.

Bryan Hoch of MLB.com wrote: “Anthony Volpe is off today. He’s scheduled to play 9 innings tomorrow for @swbrailriders. 9 more Saturday, then DH on Sunday. It’s possible he joins the team on the road for the Rangers series.”

Volpe has been played in four Minor League games so far this year.

He is coming off a season where he batted .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI’s, 65 runs and 18 stolen bases in 153 games.

Volpe was the 30th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

He has spent all three seasons with the Yankees.

Despite being without Volpe, the Yankees are off to an incredible start to the 2026 season.

They are at the top of the American League East with a 15-9 record in 24 games.

Following the Red Sox, the Yankees will head to Houston for a series with the Astros on Friday.

Following the Astros, they will remain in Texas to play the Rangers.
