The New York Mets entered the 2026 MLB season as one of the top World Series contenders in the National League. Juan Soto is a big part of that hype and expectation.
Soto, who signed a massive 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets last offseason, is one of the best hitters in baseball. Unfortunately, he has suffered an injury earlier this year.
Just 10 games into the year, Soto has gone down with a calf strain. He will miss some time due to the injury.
With that being said, a popular sports doctor has taken to social media to weigh in on Soto’s injury and offer a firm timeline for when he expects the star outfielder to return to the diamond.
Sports Doctor Weighs in on Mets’ Juan Soto Injury
Jesse Morse, a sports doctor who has become popular on social media, took some time to share his thoughts on the injury. While Soto will miss some time, it’s not a major concern.
“Juan Soto is expected to return in 2-3 weeks due to his grade 1 calf strain,” Morse wrote.
“This is consistent with shutting him down for 7-10 days (likely after injection with stem cells).”
Here is what Morse had to say about Soto’s injury back on April 4.
“Good news for Juan Soto,” Morse wrote. “Minor calf strain, likely grade 1. Calf (usually gastrocnemius) strains are tricky and are notorious for reinjury (similar to the groin). It would be smart for him to shut it down for 7-10 days and inject the calf with either PRP, but ideally an allograft stem cell product. Also want to make sure the Achilles doesn’t get impacted, as we saw a lot in the NBA during the 2025 season (ie Jayson Tatum etc).”
How Have the Mets Played So Far This Season?
Through the first 10 games of the season, New York holds a 6-4 record. After entering the year with a lot of hype, the Mets have not disappointed, but they also haven’t exceeded the expectations.
Hopefully, Soto is able to make a quick and full recovery from the calf injury with no setbacks. New York can’t afford to have him miss a significant amount of time.
The Mets are coming off of a series against the San Francisco Giants where they won three out of four games. They are now preparing to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series that begins on Tuesday afternoon.
More news is sure to come out about Soto in the near future. For now, it sounds like good news and New York should have its superstar back before long.
